Tennis highlight video maker

ReelBallers turns tennis match footage into a highlight reel: tag aces, forehand and backhand winners, volleys, and long rallies, then export a recruiting cut or a social clip.

How to make a tennis highlight reel

  1. 1

    Upload your tennis game

Upload the footage you already filmed -- phone, action camera, or an export from a team camera system. Full matches are fine; there is no need to trim first.

  2. 2

    Mark the plays worth keeping

Watch the game and tag each moment by position and play type. Tennis presets cover 4 positions and 12 play types, so tagging is a click rather than typing.

  3. 3

    Export and share the reel

ReelBallers crops and follows your player through every clip, upscales toward 4K, and stitches the reel together. Share it with one link, or export a vertical cut for social.

Tennis plays you can tag

Every clip is tagged by position and play type, so you can later pull "every goal" or "every defensive stop" without scrubbing footage. These are the tennis presets built in today.

Serve

  • Ace

Serve that lands in untouched for a point.

  • Service Winner

Serve that forces a weak return and an easy point.

  • Kick Serve

Heavy topspin serve that bounces high to push the returner back.

Baseline

  • Forehand Winner

Forehand that lands in for an unreturnable point.

  • Backhand Winner

Backhand that lands in for an unreturnable point.

  • Rally

Sustained baseline exchange that earns the point.

Net

  • Volley

Putting away a ball out of the air at the net.

  • Overhead

Smash on a high ball for a point.

  • Drop Shot

Soft touch that dies just over the net to win the point.

Defense

  • Passing Shot

Drive past an opponent who has come to the net.

  • Return

Strong return of serve that takes control of the rally.

  • Lob

High shot over the opponent at the net to reset or win the point.

Why tennis footage is hard to edit

Tennis is usually filmed from behind the baseline on a fence-mounted phone, so the far player is small and the near player is cropped. A follow-crop that tracks one player keeps them at a usable size through the whole point.

What tennis coaches look for

College tennis coaches want full points, not winners in isolation -- they are evaluating construction and movement. Serve mechanics from a consistent angle is the other clip they consistently ask for.

What people say

My mom is always asking me to β€œsend the video” when she can't attend my daughter's games. Now I can send her a high res 3 minute highlight reel with a spotlight so she can actually see what's going on.

I loved that I could start wide and bring the camera in tighter at the end. Really tracked well. I'm telling you, this software is great.

Tennis highlight reels: common questions

How do I make a tennis highlight video?

Upload your tennis game footage to ReelBallers, mark the plays worth keeping as you watch, and export. It crops and follows your player through each clip automatically, then produces one shareable link. You do not need editing experience or a separate video editor.

What tennis plays can I tag?

Tennis has 12 built-in play types across 4 positions: Ace, Service Winner, Kick Serve, Forehand Winner, Backhand Winner, Rally, Volley, Overhead, Drop Shot, Passing Shot, Return, Lob. You can also rate clips and add notes.

What camera do I need to film tennis?

Whatever you already own. ReelBallers works with any standard video file -- iPhone and Android video, GoPro and other action cameras, XbotGo mounts, camcorders, or match video exported from Veo, Trace, or Hudl. There is no hardware to buy.

Can I make a tennis recruiting video with this?

Yes. Build the reel from your tagged clips, and export a wide cut for college coaches plus a vertical version for social from the same set of clips. Most college coaches want three to five minutes, with your strongest plays first.

How do I keep my player in frame in wide tennis footage?

That is what the auto-follow framing does. You pick the player, and the crop tracks them through the clip, so a wide sideline shot becomes a tight, watchable frame. You can also start wide and tighten through a clip.

How much does it cost?

Free to start. You can upload a game and build a tennis reel without paying up front.

What does the person I send the reel to need?

Just a web browser -- no app install and no account. Coaches, recruiters, and family open a link and watch at full resolution.
